VARIETY & PERSONALITIES

THE NEW DESIGN OF THE GHOST FACTORY RACING TEAM

The GHOST Factory Racing Team is special in so many ways that its success is not the only thing that makes it stand out - and we are accordingly proud to be the team's clothing sponsor. GHOST decided over a decade ago to set up an all-women's team. And to date, the athletes have claimed countless World Cup podiums, won the overall team classification three times and won various world championship medals. For the 2024 season, the team is one of the youngest with an average age of 25 - and one of the most diverse internationally: the five riders come from five countries.

We were inspired by the GHOST Factory Racing Team. An inspiration that is also reflected on the new jersey from Maloja. In a close exchange, especially with the riders of the team, we therefore decided to place the different personalities and stories of the women at the center of the design. We were inspired by their home countries, picked up on their tattoos and also depicted their hobbies on the jerseys. Symbols and motifs from their home countries, tattoos and hobbies were the basis for the design of the new World Cup jerseys.

Dutch rider Anne Terpstra, who once again competed for the overall World Cup in 2022 and ultimately finished third, can be seen wearing the famous "Klompen", the wooden shoes - without cleats. One of her tattoos - a graphic combination of a bicycle and a horizontal 8 - stands for her motto "Endless Riding". We have placed it directly under the prominent GHOST lettering. Anne's adopted home, the Fichtelgebirge, is also depicted with the typical rock formations. Although the mythical figure on the front of the jersey is said to be invisible, if you look closely you will clearly recognize a ninja - the nickname of team rider Finja Lipp.

Caroline Bohé comes from Denmark - for us the land of the Vikings. The corresponding helmet can be found on the back of the jersey. We also share a love of good coffee with Caroline. She is a trained barista and now carries the motif of the iconic Bialetti coffee pot with her at all competitions. The rider Nicole Koller comes from Switzerland, a country traditionally close to our hearts. It goes without saying that a bar of chocolate on her jersey stands for symbolic carbohydrates during the race - the accompanying Swiss army knife can perhaps also be read as a multitool.

The fifth rider on the team is Isla Short from Scotland. Botanists will already have noticed the "thistle" - the Scottish national plant. The good thing is that although the print on her chest stands out, it is not itchy. One of Scotland's national dishes - "Fish & Chips" - also features on the jersey.

For us, the different motifs come together to form a coherent jersey. They symbolize the diversity of the riders, their different personalities and strengthen the team spirit in their overall appearance - because every rider wears the same motifs. In general, the GHOST team is not just about results, but above all about heart and passion - for both the riders and the team behind them. And that is crucial for us at Maloja. We want to promote top-class sport that thrives on passion and community, that is open and inspiring. The collaboration with GHOST is extremely trusting and of course we also benefit enormously from the team's feedback for product development.
